We’ve enjoyed a wonderful celebration of the Wines of the Ribera del Duero throughout April.
We have enjoyed two sell-out events, a Secret Cellar “Ribera del Duero Tasting” on Friday 4th April and a special afternoon ‘Celebrating the Wines of Ribera del Duero’ Tasting on Saturday 12th April.
Both events highlighted the the enormous diversity that the region has to offer, thanks to its range of terroir in soil types, altitudes, and zones.
Our Secret Cellar Tasting was a tremendous success. Secret Cellar Tastings are a small group tasting that take place in our ground floor tasting room. We invited customers to taste some fabulous reds from this famous Spanish region showcasing the Tempranillo grape, guided by James our Retail Supervisor & WSET Educator. We tasted 4 wines, including wines from Bodegas Áster and Vega Sicilia’s Alion.
On Saturday 12th April we hosted a sold-out seated tasting bringing 50 people together to join us in “Celebrating the Wines of Ribera del Duero’ Tasting”.
With our tasting room set and with complimentary Spanish meats and cheeses, we were ready to dive in!
Susan our General Manager gave our introductions guided us through the stunning wines featured in the tasting.
We tasted 6 stunning wines which Susan guided us through, deftly highlighting the subtleties and complexities each wine had to offer. Being able to taste the wines side by side was a rare and enlightening experience with each wine showing the diversity of the terroirs and winemaking skills from these fabulous producers.
