Description

60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc

A prodigious succession of mild weather, humidity, heat and sunshine characterize the 2014 vintage. The Indian summer helped promote perfect ripeness of the grapes. The magnificent late season associated with constant care and attention in the vineyard gave birth to this successful vintage. Its quality is the reward for energy invested, and approaches that of great classic vintages.

This Saint-Julien displays an intense garnet color with purple highlights.  It is limpid and bright.

Upon aeration, the nose reveals subtle, delicious fragrances of black cherry, blackberry, and delicate, well-integrated oak.  A hint of liquorice brings an enticing note of freshness.

The attack is lively, plump and mouth filling.  Beautifully balanced, the tannins are fine-grained.  Aromas of black fruit and delicate oak persist on the harmonious finish.  An exquisite, refined Saint-Julien.

The Wine Advocate – Neil Martin : 91-93 (01.04.2017)
“It has one of the most opulent set of aromatics of the appellation, with crème de cassis, boysenberry jam and macerated small dark cherries – an extravagant bouquet in the context of the growing season. The palate is full-bodied with great density and power. There is a lot of weight in this St Julien, spicy in the muth with a healthy pinch of white pepper towards the finish that feels long in the mouth, although I would like to see more finesse coming through by the time of bottling. As usual, this one of the most decadent St Julien wines, but one that is well-crafted by Didier Cuvelier. Give this several years in bottle.”

JamesSuckling.com – James Suckling : 94 (14.02.2017)
“A ripe, generous and substantial wine for this appellation with some real concentration. Plenty of beautiful currant and blackberry character, as well as a solid core of ripe, dusty and velvety tannins and enough acidity to carry the long, savory finish. Slight lean now. Better in 2024.”
