We cannot believe DWS is celebrating its 65th year! Wow, how did that happen?!

It all started with Peter & Neal’s Grandfather Edward (Ned) McAlindon in a wee off licence in Duncairn Gardens in 1954. After years of managing other people`s bars he finally got his own business but tragically didn’t get the years to enjoy it and died the following year. The family all rallied round, as families do, and middle son Kevin became the one who took on the mantle. Older brother Denis, who was a Diplomat, imbued in Kevin a growing enthusiasm for wine and European culture. This was the catalyst for the company you see today.

The contributions of many have helped our company to evolve over these years including Kevin’s younger brother Ciaran, Harry Darcy (business adviser and mentor) and how could we forget the inimitable Peter Gilfedder!

In recent times we have had a lot of developments, a new trade company ‘McAlindon Wines’, the launch of ‘Creu Celta’ from our own vineyard, the DWS Wine Academy, and the most diverse and interesting portfolio we’ve ever had!

None of this would have been possible without significant hard work, creativity, support and a healthy dose of humour by our ‘second family’ of DWS colleagues – a big thanks to all of them!

A big thank you to Bodegas Martín Códax, Domaine Joel Delaunay, Deakin Estate, Katnook Estate, Enotria & Coe, Freixenet, Maison Jean Loron, Maison Willm, Pasqua, Plaimont, Union de Producteurs de Saint-Emilion, Vidigal, Winetraders, The Artisan Cheesemonger & Breadbox for joining our celebrations.

Thank you to all our customers we hope you get as much pleasure from the wines as we do!
