Vega Sicilia, founded in 1864 and situated in the Ribera del Duero, is Spain’s most prestigious wine estate. Taking the great wines of Bordeaux as inspiration, the vineyards were planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec & Merlot as well as the local Tinto Fino (aka Tempranillo). The bodega’s top cuvée is the Unico that sees up to a decade of ageing in barrel, whilst the Valbuena is bottled in half the time. They are consistently not only Spain’s finest wines but also amongst the world’s greatest.
