Tyrrell’s Wines Hunter Valley Shiraz 2017
The ‘baby brother’ to Tyrrell’s famous Vat 9 Shiraz, the Hunter Valley Shiraz is made to the same high standards that their flagship Shiraz receives. A selection of some of the top blocks, most of which are dry rown and averaging 40 years in vine age. A classic medium-bodied Hunter style. Deceptively ‘rich’ with a savoury pepper and charcuterie flavour mixed in good proportions with ripe red and black berry fruits.

2017 Shiraz vintage was one of the best in recent memory and has produced wines of the highest quality. Solid rains in winter and spring meant the vines had constant access to water and the warmer weather in the new year meant all of the fruit was in near perfect condition and ripeness when it was harvested.
The ‘baby brother’ to our famous Vat 9 Shiraz, our Hunter Valley Shiraz is made to the same high standards that our flagship Shiraz receives. The grapes were picked before fermentation in the open top vats. The wine was then matured in older, large format French oak casks. These 2,700 litre casks highlight the fruit purity whilst making sure that oak isn’t the dominant character.
Vibrant purple colour, with a lifted nose showing red fruits and some spice. The palate is lively and fresh showing red fruits and a soft, savoury tannins with fresh acidity. A wonderful example of the modern, medium bodied Hunter Valley Shiraz.
