Molise is the second-smallest region in Southern Italy, bordering Abruzzo, Lazio, Campania and Puglia. Its wines began to gain recognition in the 1980s with the creation of the Biferno and Pentro di Isernia DOCs.
The Biferno is a Montepulciano and Aglianico blend, the former from the Adriatic coast.
A lovely, easy-drinking red wine with a nose of blueberry aromas. Oak ageing has given it a soft, velvety texture underlaid by spices, as well as a rustic warmth.
