Herdade do Esporão Quatro Castas Tinto 2017
Touriga Franca, Tinta Miúda, Cabernet Sauvignon, Alicante Bouschet. Red berry fruits from the Touriga Franca variety with spicy elements from Tinta Miúda. Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure and elegance with Alicante Bouschet contributing balance and intensity.
“88/100…blend of Petit Verdot, Aragonez, Syrah and Alicante Bouschet…aged for six months in a mixture of French & American oak. Simply bursting with flavour…well-supported by moderately ripe tannins and the mid-palate has an elegant feel to it. The medley of grapes does a great job here of adding some complexity – one minute, it seemed like there was a sour cherry note, the next, it seemed like the Syrah took over. There were some beefy notes in the background (the Alicante?) as well…nice, flavorful finish and reasonable body.”
