Zöhrer Privat Selection Muskateller, Austria
“GOLD MEDAL” (AWC Vienna 2022) Opulent, luscious citrus & stone fruit notes with elegant dry finish. A must try. Great as an aperitif wine and perfect for Asian cuisine.
Morgado de Bucelas Arinto, Portugal
100% Arinto. Aged on skins for 4 hours pre fermentation then aged on lees for 4 months post fermentation. Both adding complexity & richness. Notes of lime, green apple & mineral. Fresh & persistent. Try with starters, seafood & grilled fish.
Klet Brda Rebula, Slovenia
Rebula is the Slovenian name for that classic northern Italian grape, Ribolla Gialla. Fresh apple & meadow-flower aromas. Crisp, youthful, with apple, green melon and saline notes. Very food friendly. “The variety delivers real quality on the (Brda) region’s steep terraces and opoka soils .” (Caroline Gilby MW, Decanter)
Red
Recas La Putere Feteasca Neagra, Romania
90% Feteascã Neagrã with Alicante & Cabernet Sauvignon
Strong aromas of fruits – sour cherries, currants, plums, flowers and slightly vegetal aromas. Flavours of wild brambles, followed by floral notes, with hints of vanilla. Lively with good body and length.
“88-91/100…aromas of raspberry & strawberry ..bit of baking spice. On the palate, bold red fruit: raspberry, plum, & strawberry with super soft tannins & light, balanced acidity. As it opens up, leather & tobacco swoop in. Medium body, with complexity throughout, leading to a ripe berry and chocolate-cherry finish.” (Appetite for Wine)
Lyrarakis Red, Greece
Grapes 89% Syrah, 11% Kotsifali
Unique blend of the native Kotsifali & Syrah. Hand harvested. Partly aged in barrel for 12 months. A rich, dark red wine with a long ageing potential, vinified by combining indigenous and international grape varieties, which have perfectly acclimatised on Crete. Elegance and power. Food Pairing: Grilled meat, game, cheese
Velarino Nero di Troia, Italy
Nero di Troia is a little known but very impressive Puglian grape possibly over shadowed by the more well known Primitivo and Negroamaro. Super-charged lush ripe fruit with damson, sour cherries, liquorice and dried herb flavours. It dominates in the northern part of Bari and in northerly Foggia. Aged in 25 and 50hl tanks for 8-10 months.
