“Dine with Bordeaux” Wine Dinner @ Ox
Monday 21st October 2013
£55 per person SOLD OUT
We are delighted to be teaming up with Belfast’s celebrated new restaurant OX for a fabulous evening of Bordeaux wine paired with a specially selected menu.
Ox burst on to Belfast culinary scene to great acclaim in March 2013, run by Belfast-born Stephen (formerly head chef of James Street South) and Brittany native Alain (formerly restaurant manager and sommelier of Deanes)
What they say:
“Our focus is on bringing you a top quality, memorable and affordable product that you will want to try again and again.” Alain
“We enjoy working for our customers and believe everyone should be able to enjoy fantastic food and wine, something a little different, in a relaxed environment.” Stephen
What others say:
“Ox simply wants to be best in class and then some. It wants to celebrate the best ingredients on its doorstep, and do it with unstudied professionalism. On those terms it has more than achieved its goals. It does not need to show off. Ox knows it’s the most interesting thing to happen to Belfast in a long while. And the city seems grateful for it.” Jay Rayner, The Observer, Sunday 21 July 2013 (http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2013/jul/21/coppi-mourne-ox-belfast-restaurants)
“In the grand scheme of things, you may be saying this is just a restaurant. And you’d be right but by hell, is it a great one.” John Ferris (http://forked.ie/2013/04/restaurant-review-ox-belfast/)
For centuries wine has been produced in Bordeaux. This has led to a great understanding of the influence of the climate, the land and the grape varieties which produce the best wines in the region. Many of the vineyards are still family-owned.
Each year the winemakers use their skill and experience to blend their grapes – Cabernet and Merlot for the reds, Sauvignon and Sémillon for the whites – to produce wines of character and diversity, whose restrained style makes them especially good with food.
“Good Food would choose Bordeaux” and this evening promises fabulous food and wine.

Monday 11th November 2013, 7 for 7.30pm
£20 per person
We are delighted to welcome Master of Wine Richard Kelley to Belfast to take us on a tasting tour of some wonderful South African wines.
Richard is one of only 300 Masters of Wine in the world, his specialist areas are the Loire and South Africa. He fell in love with the world of wine in 1981 after tasting a bottle of 1969 Gaston Huet Vouvray. This led to him doing various wine qualifications which ultimately led to him studying and then working in South Africa for 7 years.
“I fell in love with South Africa. Who wouldn’t? It’s the most beautiful wine growing region on earth.”
With a soft spot for the “world’s greatest grape variety” Chenin Blanc, Richard will guide us through both red and white wines from boutique South African wineries, such as Bon Courage, Edgebaston & Zevenwacht.
Following the success of the Italian Tasting with Michael Palij MW & the Hunter’s Wine Tasting with Jane Hunter OBE, the tastings will again take place in the Lyrics cafe/bar.
